Matrix Night Club in Pittsburgh’s Station Square closed its doors on Sunday, January 10, 2010. A bright yellow sign posted on the door indicates they shut-down because of the establishment’s “failure to comply with the Allegheny County Alcoholic Beverage Tax”. Next to the sign is a notice of Sheriff’s Sale to take place on February 10th, at 10:30am.
The club had a long run and will be missed by the club-goers of Pittsburgh. In a city where club names change like the weather, Matrix remained a party destination for 8 long years. Now that it’s closed, there’s one less thing for college kids to do in Boring Pittsburgh. Hopefully everyone will read this post before driving all the way down there to find out the party’s over.
Matrix Night Club 4/25/2002 – 1/10/2010
We have closed our doors…after an almost 8 year run! We would like to thank everyone that came out every Thurs-Sat over the last 8 years and made us what we were. Special thanks to Archie, Stiffler, Mom, The entire bar staff, bouncer staff, DJ Jan, DJ Hypnotyza, DJ Michael St. John, DJ Bill Bara, DJ De Vera, DJ Bryce, DJ MJ, DJ Digital Dave and the endless list of special guests we have had over the years. Please remember that without all of you, alot of the new men and women in the nightlife of Pittsburgh, would not be where they are today.
Matrix was the first Super Club Pittsburgh had ever seen and will always remain, the largest nightclub. Alot of clubs say they hold 1500 people at capacity…but when you walked into Matrix, and looked at the Allegheny Count Certificate of recommended volume above our cash register, we were the only ones that said 1450! And all 1450 of those people each night helped keep us going for 8 years. Thanks to everyone for what they put in and took from Matrix Nightclub. Best of luck to everyone.
