Swissvale Music Store, the shop that was run by musicians for musicians, has liquidated and closed. After 34 years, the owners decided to pack up and move to Irwin. This story has been ongoing since March, but it’s just as sad today to see another longtime Pittsburgh business shut its doors. The space sits there with nothing but a sign on the door and fading memories of the talent that bought their first electric guitar there (and would-be talent that stopped in with a dream but couldn’t afford to shop there).
If you’re looking for a similar store in Pittsburgh for your music equipment needs, check out Pittsburgh Guitars (on Carson Street in Southside), Pianos N’Stuff (Freeport Road), or Empire Music (Washington Road).
