The Warhol: D.I.Y. POP - iPhone app by the Andy Warhol Museum

The Andy Warhol Museum has managed to jam the entire process of silkscreening into their new D.I.Y. POP app so that you can avoid getting real paint on your hands. Check it out…

Not another photo app!

This is not just another photo app. This app is awesome and lets you do it all! From painting, exposing, and cropping, to pulling the digital squeegee. Silkscreen over any existing pic in your library, or use your camera to create a new one. Choose the colors and brush size, then get to squeegeeing! You can send your colorful creation to your friends on Facebook and Twitter directly from the app itself. We’re hoping they come up with an update that lets us silkcreen over video!

The app was developed locally in collaboration with CMU’s Professional Software Engineering Program. It works on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod-Touch, which is perfect since those are probably the devices that Warhol would be painting pictures of if he were around today.

Cheapskate

The regular price of the app is $1.99 (cheaper than a latte) and for a limited time they’re letting it go for a mere $.99.

Win a shirt

Tweet us your silkscreened masterpieces from the DIY POP app tagged with #BurghVerified for a chance to win a Burgh Verified t-shirt (since it’s about art, let’s make it as subjective as possible… our favorite one wins). It costs less for you to buy the app than it costs us to ship your shirt!
