When we heard about Lucy Leitner and her upcoming Burgh-centric novel about zombies, a press-release wasn’t enough. A Pittsburgh based author, Southside setting, yinzer zombies? This sounds likes it’s gonna be awesome! The book will be officially launched this June, so Boring Pittsburgh immediately got in touch with the local writer to get the scoop and all the juicy details about Working Stiffs…

Shay Mooney Interview + New Single “Your Love” (video)
Singer/songwriter Shay Mooney just launched his latest single “Your Love” and the accompanying video was filmed around Station Square and Downtown Pittsburgh. We had a chance to sit down with the Arkansas native and asked a few questions so you guys could get to know the man behind the voice… and why he chose to make his first music video on the Smithfield Street Bridge:
What is your Pittsburgh bio/background?
I moved to Pittsburgh in the summer of 2010 to attend a leadership college with my sister, Gabby Mooney. We wanted to do music full time but we really wanted to establish who we were as individuals. I’ve always been a Steelers fan ever since I was a kid, so it was awesome moving to a city full of passion for this team. I soon realized it was not only just a passion for this city and team, but a way of life; a proud one. Seems like everyday I met someone new. So many good people in this city. Many songs and much inspiration came from my time in Pittsburgh. As well as life-long friends.

Formula412 Interview
We had a ton of questions for Formula412. The band was preparing for their CD release concert on Saturday 4/16/2011, but Masai Turner (the voice) took some time to talk about the highly anticipated album, thoughts on Pittsburgh, plans for the future, and even got a pre-launch look at the new iFormula412 mobile app!
What are your Pittsburgh backgrounds/bios?
We all grew up in Pittsburgh and went to high school here. I grew up in East Liberty/ Highland Park in Elementary School (Fulton), Stanton Heights for Middle School (Arsenal), then I lived in Squirrel hill for 2 years of High School and then “The Hill” for the majority of last 2 years (Allderdice). After that I moved to Oakland for College (Pitt), and the list goes on… Mostly East and Central Pittsburgh though.
How did you meet and start Formula412?
I knew everyone in the band before we were a band. Each member has crossed paths on shared bills or artistically many years before there was ever a Formula412. We should have started this thing in 96 instead of 2006. We all had mutual respect for each other so it was easy to come together. Respect is everything.

Davon Magwood Interview

Davon Magwood: Pittsburgh Comic (via @antuksmovement)
Boring Pittsburgh is welcoming a new member to the group and we’d like you guys to get to know him before he starts randomly popping up all over the site. Although, he’ll tell you that’s what he’s good at. Being random. His name is Davon Magwood and he’s a local comedian/Pittsburgh personality- if you’re #BurghVerified, then you already know the name. When Davon insisted that we meet up at his favorite coffee shop in Pittsburgh, there was a bit of hesitation (since we’re not so crazy about their mocha) and an urge to say “uh, how about Voluto or Espresso a Mano,” but we settled and met his request… don’t worry, we let him pay! So get to know Davon Magwood:
