Hello,
As Marketing Director of Rivers of Steel, the non-profit organization that manages the Carrie Blast Furnace and the Hard Hat tours, we are extremely pleased with this wonderful coverage that Boring Pittsburgh provided for the Carrie Blast Furnace and Rivers of Steel! But with that said, in response to the comment above, Eric, please be aware that the tour fee goes directly toward the preservation of one of Pittsburgh's last relics of an industry that is an immeasurable part of our steel heritage. To promote breaking and entering of an historic landmark is not something that the Boring Pittsburgh blog would promote, who visited the site through the proper channels, nor is it something that we want to see happen, nor the subsequent legal issues that would ensue. We offer guided tours for a reason - to share our region's history with visitors and to keep everyone safe. As we would not encourage anyone to break into your home, Eric, we would request that you not encourage breaking into this Rivers of Steel-managed national historic landmark. If you are interested in visiting our historic site through the proper channels, please feel free to contact me at smoreira@riversofsteel.com and I'll see what I can do for you! ;)
With kind regards,
Sherris Moreira
