OBEY! Shepard Fairey poster at The Andy Warhol Museum

The Shepard Fairey: Supply and Demand exhibit is officially underway at The Andy Warhol Museum. The show will run from October 18, 2009 to January 31, 2010 and will display the past 20 years of the artist’s collection.

While not everyone will recognize Shepard Fairey by name, most people (no matter their political leaning) would recognize his art. He is the designer of the controversial Obama “Hope” poster. According to the Associated Press, the poster was based on a copyrighted photo taken by one of their freelance photojournalists. Back in February 2009, NPR talked to Mr. Fairey about the situation – you can listen to the interview here.
