Gorging on Locally Grown Fare
I was assigned to cover the Farm to Table Conference and Friday Night Food Tasting event for Boring Pittsburgh, which meant I was given the opportunity to do my two favorite things – eat and write about it.
There were enough vendors at the tasting to make your head spin. From local cheese, hummus, beer, wines, as well as milk and local beef franks. One could gorge oneself on all the different choices of food and drink!

BYOB in Pittsburgh
Acronyms are fun, and if you spend enough time on it, you could probably think up some good ones for BYOB. The most common meaning for that four letter combination is already the best: Bring Your Own Bottle (or beer, or booze, or… you get the point).
If you are a foodie with a thirst for spirits, BYOB is the best thing ever. It allows you to pair your preferred drink to your meal, it saves you money, and it’s fun.

Farm to Table 2012: Local Food, Local Business, Local Living!
Think of the word “Pittsburgh.” What image comes to mind? To me, I see a skyline of the Steel City. I think buildings- PPG, Highmark, Consol, UPMC. But beyond the limits of what makes Pittsburgh a municipality, there is a host of people outside the realms of the three rivers that do their part to ensure that “local” is also something that we think of when we hear “Pittsburgh.”
On March 23-24, the 6th annual Farm to Table Conference will be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in the Strip District. A menagerie of farmers, chefs, dieticians, and health vendors will be gathering to provide locals with alternative ideas on food, supporting local business, health, and nutrition. The convention focuses on the idea that food sourced locally creates a trend that is beneficial to every party involved.
