Smart people were out grocery shopping this evening between the hours of 6:30 and 10pm, while everyone else in the country was watching Super Bowl XLV.
Most of the Steeler Nation tuned in for closure to the season so that we can all get on with our lives and look forward to next time. Either way, hopefully you caught the awesome halftime show by Madonna (because whether you like her music or not, it was still the best halftime show in a while) and of course MIA’s finger malfunction.
The Commericals
Aside from the local commercial slot with Antonio Brown saying something about how Charley’s “does taste better,” the best commercial was the one that featured the rings of the previous champions.
This commercial reminded us all that no matter which teams are playing in the Super Bowl, they are all just trying to catch up to the Pittsburgh Steelers. And after the Giants won, their CEO/President reminded us that he’s an idiot…
A lot of teams around the country (he’s talking about the Steelers) brag about what great fans support they have (you’re team just won the Super Bowl and you still can’t stop thinking about the Steelers? Talk about bitter!), but we know who the most loyal fans in the league are, Giants fans, and this is for you (this isn’t the most classy way to accept an award).” -John K. Mara CEO/President New York Giants
Dear John K. Mara, you are wrong. Steelers fans are the most loyal fans not only in American football, but in the world of sports. No other fanbase will ever come close.

Well said! I was thinking exactly the same thing about all three of the points you made here. Madonna was great, that Brown commercial was odd, the rings were a great reminder, and that guy from the Giants was off his rocker.
I always find it laughable how the rings say “World Champions” for a sport that is only played in the Unites States.
@Chris yes, because when a sport is only played in the US, then being the US champion automatically makes you the world champion…
I’m just saying that “World Champions” should be saved for a sport that is played by the world. Like real football.
isn’t that like saying they can’t be the US champions, because Utah doesn’t have a team?
it seems to me that, if there is no better team in the world, they’re the world champions, by definition. does it matter who participates and who doesn’t?
I see your perspective and it makes sense.
@Bill Just because you’re unapologetically arrogant doesn’t automatically make you the best.
well, i’m not going to argue that football isn’t the most arrogant sport. i’m not that blind.
Yinz are right, without the Steelers it’s just a Bowl.
SO, I wasn’t the only one to catch that girl flip the bird to the camera during Madonna’s show.
Oh horse dung! The SAINTS have the GREATEST, most LOYAL fans in the world!!!! I felt like Mara was speaking about New Orleans when he said that garbage. Not only are us WHO DATS the greatest, most loyal fans, but we are the nicest, most hospitable fans, in addition to being awesomely laid back and noone has more fun than WHO DATS!!!!
It ain’t a Super Bowl without me, indeed.
