Yinzer hipsters rejoice! The Perks of Being a Wallflower is being made into a movie and will be filmed in Pittsburgh starting today. The book was written by a Pittsburgher, so what better place to film than the Burgh?
Writer and director Stephen Chbosky was originally from Upper St. Clair where he graduated from high school in 1988. Now he lives in the real Hollywood, but after adapting the novel into a screenplay, he brought the production back to his hometown: Hollywood of the East.
Harry Potter fans will be excited to know that they will have an opportunity to stalk Emma Watson aka Herimone Granger (playing Sam). Charlie, the 15 year old main character will be played by 19 year old Logan Lerman. The movie is executive produced by John Malkovich and features other famous faces including Paul Rudd, Mae Witman, and Nina Dobrev.

According to their Facebook page and this article, Nancy Mosser Casting will be looking for extras and 35 speaking roles for The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The information is not yet on their site, but if you are interested you should submit a profile to the agency.
