Jake Gylenhaal in the middle of a shoot for Love and Other Drugs
By now everyone knows that Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway are in Pittsburgh shooting a film called Love and Other Drugs. After all the preparation for the electronics store set, filming is finally underway at the old Don Allen dealership on Baum and Liberty in Shadyside. Jake Gyllenhaal, who has been exploring Pittsburgh as much as possible during his job here, was seen running in and out of the building for a scene which obviously involved running in and out of the building.
Still no shots of Anne Hathaway, but boy does Jake Gyllenhaal have some good energy. You should have seen him running around! Click continue for more photos…
The bus routes on Baum Blvd are going to be shut down the entire day and traffic is being redirected.

Hurry….get him to the Strip District with Rick Sebac
LOL Rick Sebac… Look at some of his titles: “Something About Oakland”; “Sandwiches That You Will Like”; “A Flea Market Documentary”; and best of all “What Makes Pittsburgh Pittsburgh” HAHA. If the libraries here weren’t closing down, it might be fun to borrow these! Ok, not all the libraries are closing so go get these flicks!
Thanks for all the pics and sightings. It’s been fun to sort of tag along as Jake explores your city.

BPgh asked: What do you think about Pittsburgh becoming the Hollywood of the East? Yay or nay?
Way ‘yay.’ Sure, “L&OD” and the other projects shooting here this fall were drawn to PA & Pgh by tax incentives, but think of the $$$ they’re pumping into the local economy. E.g., a cast call site says for each of the 400 extras working in an “L&OD” shoot at Mellon Arena (a “Pfizer sales rally” scene), the production will donate an amount to the Pgh Film Office. That’ll help the PFO in its work of attracting even more projects to Pgh. And remember- the US film industry started in neighboring NJ!
That is some excellent information about the donation to the Pittsburgh Film Office. It’s exciting to have films shot in Pittsburgh and it really creates a lot of press an exposure for the city. Pgh neighborhoods are so diverse and ideal for all different types of film settings.
I think it is great, but what I DON”T think is great is this…Last night, there was a group of maybe 10 girls watching across the street outside. They waited in the cold for over an hour, hoping to catch a glimpse of Jake when he left the building. Just as he was about to exit the building, a cop made the girls leave. OMG, they were not doing anything, they weren’t rowdy, they just wanted a glimpse. Jake is cool, but it is not like he is a rock star that they are going to mob him or anything. What is the harm in sneaking a quick pic, when he is not filming.
I thought that was really really uncalled for and I am sure a major disappointment for the young girls. I think they are taking this protection thing a bit too far.
It’s funny how some people just walk right past the set and don’t even realize they’re walking past a superstar like Jake, who could very well be one of their own favorite actors. Hehe, people are oblivious sometimes.
That pic of Jake is all over the internet, you guys took it?
Yes we did
