Social Media Day at the Warhol

Social Media Meetup Day in Pittsburgh at the Andy Warhol Museum

I have Social Disease. I have to go out every night. If I stay home one night I start spreading rumors to my dogs.  – Andy Warhol

Today was Social Media Day (as declared by the ever so venerable Mashable.com). Pittsburgh social-media butterflies met at the Andy Warhol Museum to celebrate. It’s hard to say how many people actually showed up but 113 people were interested on the Meetup page and about 50 people checked in on FourSquare. Good turnout for Pittsburgh!

The event was organized and sponsored by Brunner Works, a major ad agency with offices in the Burgh (and DC/Atlanta). We just love their website. If you watch the street view on their homepage long enough, you will see one of the cars pull off an infamous Pittsburgh Left. You might as well apply for a job with them here while you’re there.

Shepard Fairey Gone, His Art Still Here

The Shepard Fairey: Supply and Demand exhibit at The Andy Warhol Museum is over but his artwork is still lingering around. If you are wondering how he got those creepy looking faces all over the buildings around town, watch the TV above as he and his crew hit up the Brillobox in Lawrenceville. He also talks a little about the difference between the art community in Pittsburgh and New York (and how the Burgh is better!).

Find all of Shepard Fairey’s outdoor murals on this map.
