Does Pittsburgh Still Love Big Ben? (Poll)

Big Ben Who? Do Steelers fans still love Ben Roethlisberger?

Ben Who? Do Steelers fans still love Ben Roethlisberger?

The Steelers are doing an incredible job so far, despite early concerns about the team’s star quarterback being withheld for the start of the season. Roethlisberger won’t be back on the field until October 17th (vs. Cleveland) and whether or not he deserves it, Big Ben has been called names, abandoned by his fans (at least some of them), and even dissed by Eminem. Plus, if the team does as well against Baltimore (10/3) as they did today in Tampa Bay, the fans might start to accept that  Ben is replaceable. This really puts the big guy in a terrible position, doesn’t it?

Is Pittsburgh over Ben Roethlisberger? Does the Steelers Nation trust that #7 has what it takes to get us to 7.

Steelers + Mini Coopers = WTF?

Mini Coopers at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix

Can you imagine Pittsburgh Steelers driving these to training camp?

This is old news, but @capnmorley brought it up. In episode 3 of the Cap’n Morley Show, the Cap’n called out the Steelers for arriving at training camp in a fleet of Mini Coopers. Seriously though, what were they thinking? And how much did P & W Motors pay them? Just kidding, no one in their right mind would want to use Ben Roethlisberger as a brand ambassador for Mini unless they were looking to destroy the brand – besides, these guys obviously would have looked much better in Smart Cars.

Eminem+Ben+Terrible Towel = Almost Famous

Eminem and the Pittsburgh Steelers Terrible Towel

Eminem "The Terrible Towel Gangsta" (a satiric imitation)

Eminem mentioned Big Ben again in his latest album, Recovery. You might recall the last time we wrote about the rapper was when he dissed our fun-loving quarterback in a song called Despicable.

When putting together that article, it was noticeable that for some reason, every piece of local news coverage was sure to let readers know the song wouldn’t be included in his latest album.  They were correct, Despicable was a freestyle that was released by Eminem’s manager on his site RapRadar.com and was not part of the Recovery playlist.  But… the rapper actually ended up mentioning not only Ben Roethlisberger, but the terrible towel as well.

Ben Roethlisberger Gets Dissed by Eminem

Eminem is a known Detroit Lions fan, but he probably would’ve ripped Ben Roethlisberger even if he was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. The best selling artist of the decade, mentioned Big Ben in a freestyle called “Despicable“.

F*** that I’d rather turn this club to a ballroom brawl
Get rowdy as Roethlisberger in a bathroom stall

The freestyle is over Drake’s “Over” and Lloyd Banks’ “Beamer, Benz or Bentley” and was first released on Eminem’s manager, Paul Rosenberg’s, site RapRadar.com and hit the web like a wildfire – even local news stations covered it. Let’s be honest though, Eminem went easy on Big Ben. In fact, it’s more press for Roethlisberger!

You probably don’t need us to warn you that the song above is not work safe.

Steelers @ Miami Dolphins Game Preview

  • The Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins both have playoff hopes
  • Each team needs a certain scenario to unfold for their hopes to become reality
  • The Steelers need to win today and in addition, they need 2 out of 3 teams in front of them to lose (Jets, Ravens, or Texans)
  • If the Texans win, the Steelers need the Broncos to lose or tie
  • If Steelers don’t make it to the play-offs, they can blame their 5 straight losses earlier in the season (3 of them to really bad teams)
  • Ben Roethlisberger has 47 sacks so far
  • Steelers are a good overall team this season, bad road team
  • Best quarterback on the field is a Steeler; the best pass-rush on the field are Steelers
