Jay-Z & Kanye West: Watch the Throne Tour (photo review)

"Watch the Throne" tour review in Pittsburgh, November 27th, 2011

"Watch the Throne" tour review in Pittsburgh, November 27th, 2011

The Consol Energy Center was packed, despite a Steelers game that was happening at the same time. Everyone’s tickets said 7:30 pm, but the stars didn’t show themselves until after 9. To say it was worth the wait would be an understatement. This concert was a once in a lifetime opportunity for any Jay-Z or Kanye West fans in Pittsburgh.

Unlike the last Jay-Z concert, there wasn’t an opening act… and there didn’t need to be. It was like being at 3 concerts at once. You get a little bit of classic Jigga and a few of Yeezy’s best hits – mixed in with the latest and greatest stuff from their Watch the Throne collaborative album. Simply put, that $h!t cray times 5 (inside joke).

If you missed the show in the Burgh, you might still have time to fly to another city to catch it. They say Pittsburghers don’t cross bridges, but this would be a good reason to prove them wrong.

The pics are pretty much in the order of appearance. Video is still processing and will be posted soon. Subscribe to the Boring Pittsburgh RSS feed so you know when it’s available!

Trading Places with Usher: OMG Tour 5/11/11

Usher OMG Tour in Pittsburgh 5-11-2011 recap

Usher OMG Tour in Pittsburgh 5-11-2011 at Consol Energy Center

USHER was in town last night and we sent out one of our staff to cover the performance.

The reigning King of R&B put on an incredible show for Pittsburgh at the Consol Energy Center. He sang it all, from his debut 1997 hit to the more recent singles from Raymond V. Raymond and Versus. The concert opened with Akon and closed with Usher singing the title song of the tour, OMG.

He made his first appearance to the crowd by hovering way up in the air on a platform that was pulled from the back of the arena to the stage. In the middle of the excitement, Usher took a moment to pay his respects to his idol and mentor Michael Jackson. He pulled it off with class and the crowd was going wild!  Full of pyrotechnics and intricately choreographed dance routines, @UsherRaymondIV gave Pittsburgh a 5 star performance.

Check out the 50+ pictures of the show below!

Jammin’ at the Monster Jam

Pittsburgh Monster Jam Videos

Pittsburgh Monster Jam Videos

The Monster Jam was in Pittsburgh all weekend at the Consol Energy Center. In case you missed the show, or always wanted to see monster trucks jumping over a row of smashed up cars, we collected these videos for you to see what you’re not missing.

This might be boring to some, but there isn’t much else to talk about on a snowy Sunday in Pittsburgh. If you aren’t into stuff like this, at least watch the videos to hear the yinzer with the camera complain about rap music and people walking in front of him.

Justin Bieber Saves the Terrible Towel

Ok, we promised you guys no Justin Bieber videos, but this one is for the Terrible Towel – so get over it. Besides, we owe it to ourselves and our paid sponsors this holiday season, because posting anything about Justin Bieber is bound to increase our traffic 10 fold. Increased traffic means more clicks for our sponsors, and they deserve it! The only regret is that we didn’t post this sooner lol.

The Beebs (as Julia Gongaware called him) had a concert in Pittsburgh’s Consol Energy Center on 12/13/2010 and just as he was about to start lip-syncing singing his hit song Baby, he threw a Terrible Towel into a vicious crowd of tweens. A couple of girls  grabbed the towel at the same time and started a war of tug, and before it could rip down the middle, the Beebs stopped his show with a “Yo Yo Yo” and saved the honor of Myron Cope’s black and gold terrycloth legacy. Then the jag-off had to restart the song again because he came down with a case of the laughies.

So before you scroll over to hit the unsubscribe button, search within your heart for an ounce of Steelers pride and understand that we only posted this video because there was a Terrible Towel in it.
