As we posted earlier, Tom Cruise and the One Shot movie crew is still in Pittsburgh. They were spotted working in Oakland at the intersection of Centre Ave. and N. Craig St. We’re still not sure if they were filming indoors or outside. Check out the pics of Cruise’s trailer below. It looks better than half of the houses in Pittsburgh!

Taylor Lautner and Pittsburgh: New 'Abduction' Poster!
Check out the Burgh sitting pretty behind Taylor Lautner in the latest version of the “Abduction” movie poster.
It’s safe to assume that the designers read Boring Pittsburgh. Notice how Taylor’s leg is positioned in a way that blocks out the four ugly letters on the Steel Building? Awesome! Let’s hope they maintained that style throughout the entire film. The gorgeous shots of Pittsburgh in the Next Three Days are going to be tough to beat, but we have high hopes for Abduction after the scenes we saw of Lautner speeding across the bridge on a crotch rocket.

Don’t be bored on Sunday or Wednesday evenings in Pittsburgh! During the summer months, Cinema in the Park is the best way to catch a flick and get some fresh air while watching the sunset over the city. Take a cozy blanket (or your parking chair from winter), your favorite snacks, and head out to watch free movies on Flagstaff Hill in Schenley Park.

That’s why you should join the 48 Hour Film Project this summer and get some direction (and a deadline) to translate your ideas to the silver screen.
You don’t have to be a professional filmmaker to participate in the 48 Hour Film Project, but it’s an excellent opportunity to challenge yourself to complete a fun project within a weekend. It’s a great chance to work with friends or other creative people you’ve always wanted to collaborate with.

Silk Screen Asian American Film Festival in Pittsburgh
Art and film. Pittsburgh has these things. And thanks to the universities and prestigious programs based in the Burgh, this city is also home to people from all over the world. Like it or not, culture and diversity definitely exists here, even if it often seems to be contained and isolated within various neighborhoods and schools.
The Silk Screen Asian American Film Festival celebrates and promotes this culture and diversity. During two weeks out of the year, Silk Screen brings us films from places we’ve never heard of, produced by people whose names we can’t pronounce. During the other 50 weeks, they are dedicated to introducing other mediums of art to the city and cultivating a cross-cultural experience within the region.

The temperature outside is warming up, but the chance of Pittsburgh being on the silver screen again is frozen in Harrisburg.
We received tips left and right (even from readers in Canada!) about the freeze on the state’s Film Production Tax Credit Program. The same program that helped Pittsburgh get Jake Gyllenhaal and Love and Other Drugs to film here. The same program that encouraged The Next Three Days to bring Russell Crowe here… Denzel Washington and Unstoppable, Taylor Lautner, etc.
