You’re looking at what is about to become the most famous van in Pittsburgh. It’s the Pitt Tailgate Van and it needs your help – or, at least your paint. An ad on Craigslist claims that the owners of the van are willing to trade you a pie for your paint (and maybe even a cake if you have some gold color).

My friends and I are looking to paint a van for tailgating but don’t feel buying paint for actual money would be appropriate. Instead, we will offer you pies.

No traffic and no students.

Spring break 2010. Oakland is a ghost town. No traffic and no students make this the perfect time to visit Oakland… the only catch is that there’s nothing to do once you get there (especially after 5pm, almost everything’s closed by then). During spring break, some shops even close for the entire weekend – like Crazy Mocha. This is a perfect example of why taxing students was a dumb idea.

What used to be a Wendy’s on the corner Fifth Avenue and Atwood Street is now a huge empty space in Pitt’s campus (and heart). The doors closed in February and local fast food lovers where heartbroken when they found out the last day to get a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger and Frosty was Valentine’s Day.

"UPMC Closes Community Hospitals - Keep Braddock Hospital Open"

Protesters gathered near the Pitt campus at the intersection of Forbes and Bigelow on Friday, January 8th. The group known as Save Our Community Hospitals was picketing against the closure of Braddock Hospital. Despite a winter storm with a blistering cold windchill, the peaceful gatherers stood strong together and delivered their message to thousands of pedestrians and drivers between 11:30am and 1:00pm.
