The Pittsburgh Penguins spend an afternoon delivering toys to kids at the Children’s Hospital.
Instead of showing some Penguins tribute videos or making fun of Sidney Crosby’s shoe commercials, we thought this video of the Pens visiting the kids over at Children’s Hospital was heart warming and really fit the holiday spirit.

The Pens finally won their first game at Consol Energy Center, which means all the bandwagon fans can shut up and stop whining. So what if they lost the first game on the new ice. So what they lost the second game ever played in the new $300 million arena. Get over it Scott Ferrall! It will be something to look back and laugh at when they lift that cup up again for hoist number four.

Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie moving to Pittsburgh (flickred by juicyhilz)
Hilary Duff is supposedly moving to Hollywood of the East, and not for movie-making. So what brings Lizzie McGuire to Pittsburgh? Her recent marriage to Mike Comrie who signed a one year contract with the Pens earlier this month.
More than likely she will be bored out of her mind – but we can expect that she won’t leak anything about it to the press because of what happened to actress Sienna Miller when she dared to talk trash about the Burgh. For the record, she quickly apologized for calling it “Shitsburgh“. Here’s a great idea: If the city collected half a penny for every time college students called it that, we wouldn’t have to increase the parking fines.

After a unanimous vote, the Igloo has no future in Pittsburgh
The demise of the Igloo will occur as soon as February, 2011. Despite pleas from local preservation groups, the Sports & Exhibition Authority decided, by unanimous vote, to move forward with plans to tear down the Civic Arena aka Mellon Arena.

"Energy" the new home of the Pittsburgh Penguins
As sad as we are about the Igloo no longer serving as the home of the Pittsburgh Penguins… and as upsetting as it is that there are a handful of suits in the city who are trying their darnedest to organize the demise of the historical steel arena… it’s still hard not to appreciate some of the attributes of the new Consol Energy Center.
But one of those attributes that is definitely not to be appreciated is the main sign. It’s on the verge of being idiotic. For $321,000,000 they could have afforded a better design for the sign. Who’s bright idea was it to put black letters on a dark surface? This seems like something that should have been double checked. Now, when visitors get off the parkway (or come from downtown) they are welcomed by “Energy” …the brand new home of the Pens.
