Polalmalu Is My Homeboy shirt worn by @MacFusionGirl

"Polalmalu Is My Homeboy" shirt worn by @MacfusionGirl

The Pittsburgh Steelers will play a preseason game against the Detroit Lions tonight at Heinz Field. Actually, the game starts in about 20 minutes, so you might find some typos in this article.

The picture is from an Apple Systems Engineer (and Steelers fan) in California known as MacfusionGirl. She let the world know that she was foregoing her Steelers jersey for her “Polamalu Is My Homeboy” t-shirt. Cool shirt. It’s available from BelieveMerch.com for $25.99 ($18.99 for the chicks version). They have some other badass designs like the “Sidney Crosby Is My Homeboy” shirt for those who prefer hockey over football.

Mini Coopers at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix

Can you imagine Pittsburgh Steelers driving these to training camp?

This is old news, but @capnmorley brought it up. In episode 3 of the Cap’n Morley Show, the Cap’n called out the Steelers for arriving at training camp in a fleet of Mini Coopers. Seriously though, what were they thinking? And how much did P & W Motors pay them? Just kidding, no one in their right mind would want to use Ben Roethlisberger as a brand ambassador for Mini unless they were looking to destroy the brand – besides, these guys obviously would have looked much better in Smart Cars.

Eminem and the Pittsburgh Steelers Terrible Towel

Eminem "The Terrible Towel Gangsta" (a satiric imitation)

Eminem mentioned Big Ben again in his latest album, Recovery. You might recall the last time we wrote about the rapper was when he dissed our fun-loving quarterback in a song called Despicable.

When putting together that article, it was noticeable that for some reason, every piece of local news coverage was sure to let readers know the song wouldn’t be included in his latest album.  They were correct, Despicable was a freestyle that was released by Eminem’s manager on his site RapRadar.com and was not part of the Recovery playlist.  But… the rapper actually ended up mentioning not only Ben Roethlisberger, but the terrible towel as well.

For those of you that are sensitive to offensive language and stuff, this might be a good time to click on to the next post: Social Media Day at the Warhol

Troy Polamalu "Hairy Helmet" Antenna Balls

Troy Polamalu "Hairy Helmet" Antenna Balls

The Steelers Superfan is awesome, but another cool entry into the WHATEVER IT TAKES: Steelers Fan Collections, Rituals, and Obsessions are the Hairy Helmet antenna balls by local designer Nick Caruso.

I created these luscious locks. It’s Stiller bling for yer car antenna!

So you remember Yappin’ Yinzers right?  A Troy Polamalu antenna ball would be the perfect compliment to your Chipped Ham Sam doll. Imagine popping on your  Hairy Helmet right before a road trip to Cleveland or Cincinnati. Better yet, since they’re only 5 bucks each, buy a bunch of them and send them to your Stillers friends in other cities. We love Polalmalu and what better way to honor him than letting that beautiful head of hair blow in the wind.

The Steelers Superfan is here to save the day!

The Steelers Superfan is here to save the day!

Today was a big day for the Steelers Superfan (also known as Lem Apperson) who was recently accepted into CMU’s upcoming art gallery show dedicated to all things Steelers related. The exhibition is called WHATEVER IT TAKES: Steelers Fan Collections, Rituals, and Obsessions and will premiere in Fall 2010. The Steelers Superfan made his exciting announcement on Twitter (under the alias @lemapp) where he also attached the above pic of his getup. You can check out his costume site here. All we gotta say is, don’t mess with the Steelers, the fans of the Steelers, and especially don’t mess with the Steelers Superfan. Congratulations on getting into the gallery!
