The Steve Jobs Shrine with floating Macbook
Pittsburgh paid respects to the late Steve Jobs by laying various items in front of the Shadyside Apple Store in tribute to the Apple co-founder/CEO. Fans showed their appreciation to the God of Apple by offering flowers, thank you notes, money, iPhones/iPods, candles, apples, and a bottle of apple juice.
The shrine was set up beneath a balloon that is carrying a Macbook Air into the heavens. Even though the display has been in the window for a while, you have to wonder if it is a message from Steve to his friends, that all is well and he will always be with them. Free yoga for 30 days! This is great news for all the aspiring yogis in Pittsburgh. Yoga Flow is a new yoga joint getting ready for a grand opening in Shadyside. Yes, we know yoga studios are as common as coffee shops in part of town, but this one sounds pretty cool.

"Lean Back" said the Walnut Street telephone pole
Walnut Street in Shadyside was closed between Bellefont and Filbert today due to a utility post that is on verge of falling over. The pole looks like it’s ready to fall into the Henne Jewelers storefront. According to a fireman on scene, the wind did it. To make matters even more dramatic, a single-phase transformer is attached to the pole. Later in the evening, the yellow tape extended the closure from Copeland to Filbert.
All the typical Walnut Street restaurants/pubs are open – Shady Grove, Doc’s Place, William Penn Tavern, Cappy’s. You are warned that parking (which is already a major downfall to Walnut St) will be even worse than usual. Pedestrian traffic is also forbidden, so the only way to get to these places is by going all the way around – and in cases like Cappy’s you’ll have to go through the side alleyway.
