No More Eggs Thanks to Polar Vortex

Crazy Winter Weather Means No Eggs in PittsburghPolar Vortex, Siberian Express, whatever they’re calling it this week, the recent sub-zero weather has made it difficult to find eggs in Pittsburgh. If you want organic, vegetarian fed, cage-free, Non-GMO Verified eggs for breakfast or brownies, then you’re basically screwed.

Pittsburghers spaz out when the weather patterns get bumpy. As a result, they tend to close stores early, then run out to buy extra eggs, milk and toilet paper.

The Whole Foods folks we asked weren’t sure when eggs would be back on the shelves. The sign says it’s due to transportation issues, however, that doesn’t sound like a good excuse if the eggs are coming from local farms.

The weather has been colder than we’re used to, but not snowy enough to stop a truck full of eggs from making scheduled deliveries on a Monday. WF was also out of their own brand of yogurt, which may or may not be related.

If you’ve seen eggs available anywhere, please report it in the comments below.
