Pittsburgh, you have 5 days to pick your song and get your voice ready! American Idol is holding open auditions in Pittsburgh later this week.
The Burgh was one of seven cities chosen to host the auditions for season 11, and we all know it’s because Pittsburghers have been hitting the music scene hard lately. It wouldn’t be too surprising if someone from the 412 becomes the next American Idol… we win everything else around here, why not this?
BTW, Jennifer Lopez is returning to the show this season. And don’t forget the American Idol Tour will be in Pittsburgh on August 15th at the Consol Energy Center.
Here’s the deal
There are two official registration days. If you don’t make it on those days, you can actually register until 8am on audition day (7/15). They do give fair warning: if you register on audition day you might not not get a chance to audition and basically “registration does not guarantee the opportunity to audition.”
Take two forms of ID with you to register. Then you will get a wristband and a seat ticket. Fill out the release form (link is at the bottom of this page). On Friday, July 15th, take your wristband, ticket, and same two forms of ID you presented at registration with you to the Heinz Field Main Gate. You can start lining up at 5am, but no later than 8am.
Then it’s just a waiting game from there. Take some snacks with you (hopefully there will be some vendors there if you don’t mind paying 5 bucks for a water). You should know your songs by heart and be comfortable singing them. You will have to sing a capella (no background music) so just keep that in mind.
